of Ride: Lake Wissota State Park and the Old Abe Trail
Contact: Gordon & Rita Simon
Information: These trails are great for younger
or less experienced horses, as they are mostly flat with wide open stretches for
gaiting. Trails go through meadow and pine tree forests, along the road and by
the lake. Deer and turkeys are frequently encountered. Bikes, hikers and dogs
may be encountered on other trails in the vicinity, but people are very mindful
of the horses. There are very few bugs at this park in the summer, which is why
we like to ride there! There is a portable toilet in the trailer parking lot but
no horse camping. A state trail pass is required as well as a park vehicle sticker
if you trailer into the park. Check the Wissota State Park web site for fees.
Those wanting to stay overnight may camp at our farm several miles from the park
trails. We will try to get access from there to the park for riding, or trailering
may be necessary. We have plenty of space for rigs, an indoor riding arena, a
large paddock and several pastures for horses. We will put up some tie lines as
well. Electricity is on site but limited. If you have a generator you may want
to bring it. Plenty of water is available. We will have a portable toilet there
for the weekend. We will forward more information as the weekend is closer. Please
RSVP to the ride by the Monday before, July 4, so we can finalize plans; 715-828-4127

Parade & Picnic A
GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL! Sunday June 27th, 2010 We had 11 Peruvians & riders,
my truck advertising the Peruvian Horse, & many grounds people and helpers to
pass out candy. We really made an impression with such a large group! Following
the parade we had a potluck picnic on my farm. My 5 acre farm was full, about
40 people, 15 horses, 6 trucks/trailers, & even used my neighbors driveway for
extra cars! It was my 11th year participating in the parade & 11 horses participated.
How did that happen??? I would like to thank my friends &/or club members for
all thier help! Mike Moszer, Jim LaRue, Kemp Ritter-Joy Larson-thier 2 boys, Joan
Meffert -Pat Kuck. Robin Kasuba, Linda VanSlyke, Courtney Wangen & Josh, Debbi
Schillingmann, Laura Nelson, Peggy Draheim, Michael & Shirley Mahlow and all their
family, & many more! Sincerely , Clarice
